Mass Effect 2 Coalesced.ini

Can I get a little help?I made the noob mistake of trying to edit the program with notepad. The game won't start up, I took out what I edited and got the file back to its original state, but the game still won't start.I tried the ME2INIfixer, but it says that 'This doesn't look like a valid Coalesced.ini.Please make sure you edit it in editor that can set line breaks to Unix format' I have Notepad 2 installed, is there a way I can get my game back up and running again without losing my character or saves? Thanks, sorry for the noob post. Corvin666 wrote.Hello, guys.Like many of you tweakers I came up with a problem that ME2 crashed upon editing of Coalesced.ini. It turns out that Bioware programmers didn't care much about ppl who'd like to edit extended game settings and are not processing a case when.ini file has been edited. Recently some guy wrote a Ruby script to fix that file after it's been edited. However you needed to install Ruby environment on your PC to use that script.I didn't like that Ruby install thing and wrote a program in C that doesn't need anything else to run. Here it is:Just put it to BioGameConfigPCCooked and launch every time after you've edited the file. You should keep in mind that Coalesced.ini is a binary file, which means that it contains important symbols that are not visible to your ordinary text editor.

So, saving the file with Windows Notepad will render it useless. You'll need an editor which is capable of dealing with binary files to edit Coalesced.iniI suggest either Notepad2 or Notepad:Happy Tweaking!P.S.: the readme's in Russian since I am Russian, I didn't feel much like translating If you care for what's written there, try using Google Translate.I know the thread is old, but I after searching for awhile for a way to cheat for a Steam version, I just found this yesterday. I just want to say it works perfect for me, and thanks!PS: I haven't tried what others suggested yet; maybe it's even easier.Edited by Lloyd Christmas, 15 January 2011 - 05:33 AM.
